Hi! We will be on property (POR) but not in a park for New Year's Eve. We were planning to go to Polynesian to watch the fireworks at midnight but heard access restricted to those staying there. Is there a schedule of events happening at each resort?

Hi Sheri! Spending a holiday at Walt Disney World is a dream for so many guests. There is always added excitement no matter what time of year but the Christmas holiday brings out the most decorations and special pixie dust.

The parks will all indeed be quite busy for New Years Eve. But sometimes one night of crowds is worth the added and gorgeous fireworks they might bring out. You will not see the displays from most Disney resorts or rooms including Port Orleans Riverside. The monorail resorts will also be very tight in who is allowed on property due to the lack of room. They must of course accommodate their own guests first and foremost.

Most of the resorts will not do anything extra special for New Years and certainly will not be having a midnight celebration. They must honor those guests who don't wish to stay up for midnight and instead sleep to be ready for the next day. They will have their campfire and movie under the stars as always. Right now that is all that is published for that resort but each one can add things as it gets closer. Be sure and receive the latest updates when you check in.
