Hi I want to get professional photos taken of my daughter for her 15th birthday outside of Disneyland and California Adventure park. Do I need special permissions or a permit to do this? The pictures are for personal use and not commercial.

    Hiya, Valarie!

Happy birthday to your daughter! There is no better place to celebrate than the Disneyland Resort.

Capturing memories of milestone celebrations is important. So of course it is fine to take pictures during your visit to the Disneyland Resort. According to the Disneyland Resort rules, if you have a professional engaged to do the photography, they will need to seek appropriate authorization first. Because professional cameras and equipment are included in the prohibited items list, it will be important to have that authorization in place in order to pass through security. Though I will note that I have some close friends who frequently carry their very nice SLR cameras with them to the parks without any problem. The important thing is to be courteous to other Guests by not blocking pathways or disrupting normal activities in the resort when taking photographs.

If you plan on a professional shoot that would require authorization, I recommend submitting a request through the online email form. Or, if you are already at the Disneyland Resort, you may want to stop by a Guest Relations location. A Cast Member will be happy to answer questions and provide guidance for you.

Did you know that the Disney Genie+ service includes complimentary downloads of your Disney PhotoPass photos? Keep an eye out for PhotoPass photographers throughout the Disneyland Resort. On occasion, I have seen some in the esplanade between the theme parks. And of course, you’ll find them at many popular photo spots throughout the parks.

Tony’s Tip: Do you have plans to dine at one of the handful of restaurants that offer celebration cakes? If so, perhaps you already placed an order for one of these yummy treats. Even if you use the Disneyland mobile app to join the walk-up list for one of these restaurants, you may still be able to request a cake. Participating restaurants may have a limited supply of extra cakes on hand. You can ask the host or server about availability. We got one for our daughter’s birthday recently. It was so cute, we hardly dared to eat it. But I’m glad we did because it was delicious!

Valarie, your daughter is sure to have a memorable experience at The Happiest Place on Earth! Enjoy those memories!
