    Can I take professional photographs for my daughters 15s birthday at the Grand Floridian? The pictures are for me, not for commercial use. I am the photographer, I would use a lighting person. Do I have to stay at the hotel to do this?

    Welcome to planDisney! We are so excited that you are here! Also, Happy Early 15th Birthday to your not-so-little Princess!

    Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of my favorite places at Walt Disney World Resort. The resort is stunning and is the perfect backdrop for commemorating many occasions, including a birthday. The Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules outline that photography, recording, drone photography, and/or videotaping, or otherwise engaging in any activity for unapproved commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. Based on your initial question, you are not planning to sell or use the resulting pictures for advertising or commercial purposes. To clarify, utilizing the photos to gain more photography clients counts as commercial purposes. If the images are just for you and your daughter, you would be welcome to take pictures at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. I would suggest keeping in mind that you might not be able to park at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa without being a resort Guest or having a dining reservation. You are welcome to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center for a fee and then take the monorail to the resort for your photo session.

    One other option for getting your daughter’s birthday photos taken is to book a private session with Disney Fine Art Photography and Video. I recently learned about these magical folks and I cannot recommend them enough. These highly skilled photographers would be able to capture the birthday celebration images of your dreams. If you have your heart set on Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this may be the best solution for you!
