I am in the process of trying to plan a Disney World trip for August. My youngest son will be turning 12 that month. What are some cool ideas for a birthday celebration that isn't so "little kiddish"?

    Hi Barbara!

How awesome would that be to celebrate a birthday at Walt Disney World Resort? Here are just a few celebration ideas:

Surprise him with an interactive virtual reality experience at The Void: Step Beyond Reality at Disney Springs.  The Void allows you to immerse yourself into the worlds of Ralph Breaks VR or even Star Wars™: Secrets of the Empire.

Bring out his inner artist at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter Painting on de' Bayou. It is an instructor-led painting class and the best part is that this activity is suitable for any and all levels of painters. Also, it makes a cool souvenir.

Celebrate with an In-Room Celebration purchased from Disney Floral & Gifts. Imagine the look on his face when he enters the room. Also, did you know that you can also arrange to have a cake delivered to your resort?

Allow him to participate in a fun evening cruise geared towards guests ages 10-16. The Unsolved Mysteries of Barefoot Bay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort involves lots of puzzles and clues to collect to make this adventure fun for older kids.

No matter what, you will create a birthday memory that he will never forget. I hope this helps to give you some ideas of ways you can celebrate your son so that he won’t feel like a "little kid".

    Have a magical time!
