Hi there, Amanda, and a very special welcome to planDisney.
Amanda, thank you for visiting us. It is my absolute honor to offer a little pixie-dusted advice for your Make-a-Wish trip. Several years ago, my best friend's son took his special trip, and I know firsthand what this magical time means. So let's call for all Mickey hands on deck, all Fairy Godmother wands at the ready, and all the Tinker Bell pixie dust we have to come up with the best suggestions to add some extra magical fun for your son. So in the words of Peter Pan, "Here we gooooooooo!"
Let's start your son's artistic adventure at EPCOT!
The Kidcot Fun Stops sound perfect for your son and can be found in each country throughout the World Showcase. Your son will receive a "suitcase" to collect cards from each country. Cast Members will make every stop enjoyable, and the cards can be colored at each station!
While not drawing experiences, EPCOT also features ImageWorks - The "What If" Labs and the
Advanced Training Lab, which are fantastic play areas for creative minds. Also, if you're visiting during an EPCOT festival, be sure to stop by the Creations Shop to ask about fun scavenger hunts throughout the park with a prize at the end!
Now, if you're looking for a genuine drawing experience, make sure to visit Animal Kingdom.
The Animation Experience at Conservation Station offers step-by-step instructions from a real-life Disney animator on how to draw a beloved Disney character. This 25-minute session with the animator allows your son to unleash his creative mind while creating a special souvenir to take home. Best of all, this experience is completely complimentary with your park ticket.
Since you mentioned that your son enjoys building, if he's a Star Wars fan, I recommend a visit to the
Droid Depot at Hollywood Studios! There is a fee for this experience, but I can tell you from personal experience that my family loved creating our own droid to take home. Similar to LEGO toys, your son will choose the parts for his droid, build his creation, and then watch as his new droid friend "comes to life." This is a popular experience, so be sure to make reservations 60 days in advance.
Our final stop on this creative adventure is Disney Springs. I'm excited to share that you will find The LEGO Store here, which offers a unique experience called the LEGO Minifigure Factory. You can read all the details about this experience
HERE. The fee for participating in the Minifigure Factory is nominal, and if you're interested, I recommend making a reservation. If you are unable to secure a booking in advance, try arriving at the store early in the day to ask about same-day reservations.
Also at Disney Springs, pay a visit to
The Art Corner. While I haven't personally experienced it, they offer a 'Create Your Own Spin Art' experience that your son may also enjoy.
Amanda, I hope these suggestions work for your son. Answering your question today has truly been my absolute pleasure. If we can offer any other advice or recommendations, please don't hesitate to ask. You are genuinely an honored Guest here at planDisney. I'm not a Fairy Godmother, but I am a Fairy Grandmother, and I'm sending you all the warm Olaf hugs and magic!
Magical moments,
Shonette
