Prior to covid we had season passes but do to changes we no longer can afford them. This year the mrs's and I are having our 50th wedding anniversary in September.Since we had a kinda honeymoon on our wedding day I was looking to surprise her?HELP

    Hi there, Dennis!

Welcome to planDisney and congratulations on an incredibly successful "Happily Ever After" with your wife! 50 magical years should definitely be celebrated in a huge way, and I would love to give you some ideas to make the best day ever for you and your one true love. Call the Fairy Godmother and break out the pixie dust, because we are going to have some very big fun!

First things first, don't forget to purchase your park tickets and make park reservations for your special day. Can't skip that part! I highly recommend adding Disney Genie+ Service to your tickets (if you've already purchased tickets without it don't worry, you can add it when you enter the park) to make the most of your time that day. Plus, that service includes unlimited digital downloads of all your photos from attractions and Disney PhotoPass Photographers! That will be a "must-have" for a big celebratory day.

Personally, I think that 50 years deserves a fabulous extra surprise in the parks. I've got a few ideas for you...

    • Take a guided tour! Walt's Main Street Story Tour actually takes you inside Walt Disney's own apartment (it is MAGIC) and the new Celebrating Disney100 at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour includes reserved viewing for the "Magic Happens" Parade!
    • End your day with dessert and a nighttime spectacular! The World of Color Dessert Party at Disney California Adventure Park will get you the best seat in the park for the show and a plate of delicious sweet and savory snacks. It even includes an adult beverage for you to toast your anniversary!
    • Choose a lovely personalized souvenir! Whether it's personalized ears from the Mad Hatter, a beautiful etched glass from Crystal Arts, or personalized art from New Orleans Square, you absolutely must pick a gift to take home and remember your day.
There are also some really special things to do at the resort that don't cost anything extra! Remember to take advantage of a few of these complimentary celebrations:

    • Pick up "Happily Ever After" celebration buttons! I like to get mine from City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. just after we enter the park because they personalize them for you. Wear those buttons proudly so everyone can celebrate with you!
    • Visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland and ask to be "pixie dusted" (as long as you don't mind being a little sparkly). This is one of my favorite things and it always makes me feel like a kid at heart.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary in Disneyland Park last year, just the two of us, and it was so much fun to just pick our favorites and enjoy the day. But don't forget about the food! You are just a few short days from dining reservations being available for your arrival date! You can check the calendar on the dining reservations page to see which days are open, I would expect to see your date in the next 4 days or so. Reservations are usually open bright and early, so don't sleep in!

Dennis, my magic (and my word count) is running out on this response! If you would like more details or help with any of these ideas you can send a question straight to me on this page and I'll get back to you as fast as I can. Congratulations again!

    Keep moving forward!
