The Princess Half will be my first long distance race and I really want to capture as much of it as possible, especially crossing the finish line. any advice on how to accomplish that? The people that I am running with are running at all different paces.

HI Becky!  The Princess is a great race!  It is the perfect first long-distance race.
There will be a lot of entertainment and Disney characters along the course.  I always run with my small camera or at the very least, my phone with a camera built in.  If you are wanting to stop for pictures, usually there will be lines at the character stops, and runners will take them for each other.  I ran the half marathon by myself in January, and had no trouble getting someone to snap my photos along the course.  I also take lots of pictures of the scenery.  As you come through Magic Kingdom, there will be fans lined along both sides of Main Street.  If you ask, most people are more than willing to grab your camera so you can get that shot in front of the castle!
Additionally, there will be professional photographers along the course, in front of the castle, and at the finish line to get some professional photos of you.  They will sort them by your bib number and then you will receive an email a few days after the race with a link to your photos that you can purchase.  They take tons at the finish line, so I have never worried about that shot.  They even post the video of you finishing that you can buy!  I have had luck with the "in front of the castle" shots with them in some races, but not always, so I do usually ask a stranger to snap my photo coming up Main Street in the Magic Kingdom.
The photographers will also be set up with a place for you to get your picture with your beautiful new medal after the race!
As you can see, you will have plenty of opportunities to document your first race!  Perfect for that Disney Princess scrapbook!  Good luck to you!  Have a great race!
