Previously, I have been on the same booking as my parents and all of our Magicband+ are active on my Parent's Disney App. However, this time I have my own separate booking from my parents. How would I move my active Magicband+ on to my account?

    Hey Katie,

Welcome to planDisney, thanks for bringing this question to us. I love getting to help a fellow Brit plan the perfect trip to Walt Disney World, and even better when it’s a fellow East Anglian! It sounds like this is your first time visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth without your parents - how exciting! I imagine they’re feeling a bit envious of your trip!

I understand how the technical side of MagicBand+ can be a bit tricky to navigate, so let me help break it down for you. Disney Bands (known as MagicBands in the US or Disney Bands internationally) are linked to a person rather than an account. If I understand your situation correctly, you’ll first need to create your own My Disney Experience account to have full control over your holiday plans. Once you have your account, your parent can add you as a member of their “Friends & Family” list in the My Disney Experience app. You’ll then receive an email invitation to accept.

I spoke with a helpful Cast Member, Tammy, who confirmed after accepting the invitation your new account will be linked to your old child account. This process will move over any MagicBands or other media currently associated with your old account to your new adult account. However, MagicBands are non-transferable, so any bands already linked to your parents’ accounts rather than your child account will not migrate to you. They remain linked to the original person they were assigned to.

I know that’s a lot to take in, Katie, but I hope this points you in the right direction! Getting everything set up properly will help you make the most of your holiday. If I have misunderstood your particular situation, please come back with another question directly, so I can continue to help.

    Have a magical day,
    Matt
