In Pre-Tron construction days there was a train shop tour- Is there any plan to bring that back??

Hi there Julianne, it's great to see you back again at planDisney!

There are a few things that I've definitely missed over the past few years, and The Magic Behind our Steam Trains Tour was among a number of former offerings that have since quietly become unavailable here at Walt Disney World Resort. For fans of the history behind the Walt Disney World Railroad as well as train enthusiasts like my husband, this was one of those exclusive glimpses into spaces that so many other guests at the theme parks wouldn't see and I personally regret not taking the chance to book this one last time while we had the chance!

I recently inquired about this - along with other tour offerings that have also faded away over time - over at Guest Relations in Magic Kingdom Park, where the Cast Members regretfully informed me that they currently don't have any information to share about whether The Magic Behind our Steam Trains Tour will ever return. They did however suggest that there were other options available in the Enchanting Extras Collection that guests might enjoy in the meantime, such as Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour which also offers that glimpse into backstage areas with great bits of Disney history along the way.

While TRON Lightcycle / Run was being built, this tour become discontinued while crews were hard at work over in that area of the theme park leading out back toward where the railway roundhouse (a key location visited during the tour) is located. Even the Walt Disney World Railroad itself wasn't operational for several years before finally making its triumphant return just before the holidays in 2022 to the delight of folks and families looking to chug along around Magic Kingdom Park. However with more development planned by Walt Disney Imagineering as well as construction looming beyond Frontierland with all of the exciting announcements at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this year, who knows whether we'll see the trains coming to another temporary halt once more!

Something that I always recommend is keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog, where official news and updates can be found along with a dedicated home for all of the great things that we create and contribute to here at planDisney! In the meantime, I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open in case we get word of any train tours coming around the bend.

Here's to keeping on track with everything new coming to Magic Kingdom Park!
