    We were present for the daily opening of the Magic Kingdom recently, and a family rode in on the train with the characters and particpated with them in the opening. Does this happen everyday? How do you get to be that selected family? Thanks!

    Aren't the "Good Morning" Opening Ceremonies at Magic Kingdom simply fantastic? It's such a fun way to start a Disney Day.

    It does indeed happen every day about 10-15 minutes prior to Park Opening time. On Extra Magic mornings, the festivities occur an hour earlier.

    Being the chosen family is a bit of a 'luck' thing. On certain days, a special family may have been pre-selected for reasons only known to Magic Kingdom Cast Members and the family themselves. On other days, the family is selected, purely at random, from amongst those who have arrived earliest at the park to enjoy the festivities of the morning! I've heard speculation that this random selection may occur from over at the left side gate area. I've also heard of random families being chosen due to it being someone's birthday and they were wearing their button and picked out by a Cast Member. You just never can tell!

    Next time, arrive as early as you can and simply ask a Cast Member near the gates if the family of the day has been chosen yet. You never know - it just could end up being YOURS and now wouldn't that be Magical!
