Ahoy there, John!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your questions for us. I’m excited to hear you will be embarking on the
Disney Treasure in a month! It is a lovely ship and I am thrilled you get to explore it really soon.
As a nurse, I often brainstorm with my patients (who live far away from the hospital) the best method to safely transport their refrigerated medications home. I’m more than happy to provide you with some suggestions!
On the day of your travel, I recommend placing your medication in a small, insulated cooler bag with plenty of ice packs. Since each airline has its own policies, I recommend that you inquire with them directly. As for bringing refrigerated medication through airport security, I did a quick search on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) website and found some information. Be sure to let the TSA Officers know that you have medication that needs to stay cold and follow their instructions. They will likely have you place your medication, ice packs and cooler separately in a bin to be screened. As soon as you arrive at your hotel in Orlando, I suggest re-freezing your ice packs and storing your medication in your hotel room’s mini refrigerator.
Each stateroom on the
Disney Treasure has a small refrigerator that you can use to keep items cold, including your medication. Since Guests will not have access to their stateroom on Embarkation Day until the afternoon, I suggest either choosing a later
Port Arrival Time or replenishing your cooler (if needed) with ice from the Beverage Stations or asking a Cast Member at one of the lounges.
If you happen to need a sharps container to dispose any used syringes, you can find one in your stateroom bathroom. Also, there is a
Health Center located on Deck 1 staffed with healthcare providers should you need any medical assistance.
I hope you find these ideas helpful. Please feel free to stop by
planDisney again if you have more questions!
Bon Voyage,
Kiki
