Ahoy Vickie!
Thanks for venturing into the rabbit hole to ask us a Disney Cruise Line question! A 3-Night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral on the
Disney Dream sounds like a great weekend getaway. I have a bag packed and am totally ready to jump on a ship the first chance I get! Happy to hEAR that you are planning to sail the seven seas next year.
One reason why we keep coming back to Disney Cruise Line is the stellar service. It’s the Cast Members that really make our cruise memorable and MAGICal. So gratuities for the crew are a perfect way to express appreciation for their hard work and exceptional service. You absolutely can arrange to have the gratuities prepaid before your cruise. Disney Cruise Line asks that you request this at least three days prior to your sail date. However, if you forget to do it in time, it’s not like you are too late for that very important date like the White Rabbit from
Alice in Wonderland; you can still make arrangements to add gratuities to your account at
Guest Services while onboard.
To assist you in budgeting, Captain Mickey has come up with a list of
recommended gratuities for your rotational dining team and stateroom host or hostess. Once you have requested to have the suggested gratuity added to your onboard account, Disney Cruise Line will provide you with the given slips reflecting the gratuity amount to place in envelopes for each of these four Cast Members. Even the Queen of Hearts would agree that’s pretty cool!
My preference is always to prepay gratuities (aka have them built into my cruise costs) and then I can always add an additional amount in the form of cash for above and beyond service. For instance, I was wowed by one of our servers a few years ago when he entertained my kids with origami, jokes, and games. I definitely wanted to thank him for going the extra mile and helping my children have such a DREAM vacation with an additional gratuity.
Vickie, if you are “curiouser and curiouser’’ about elements of your voyage, you can always hop back over for more tips here at planDisney! We hope that you will be grinning like the Cheshire Cat with pure joy during your upcoming cruise with Captain Mickey!
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
