We are preparing to travel on our first SWDAS cruise in a few weeks. Do you know if my son is allowed to bring his stormtrooper blaster? I know he can bring his lightsaber, both of these were purchased at a Disney store.

    Hi Amanda!

Jedi and Padawans rejoice at the news that you will be embarking on a Disney cruise with Star Wars Day at Sea! Sounds like you and your family will be more than ready for your adventure at sea to a galaxy far, far away!

Disney Cruise Line is known for its safety and to that end, maintains a zero weapons policy. Toys are looking more and more authentic every year, so it's no surprise that anything resembling guns are on the Prohibited Items list. The only toy exceptions to this are lightsabers, plastic pirate swords, and plastic Thor hammers. Thankfully store-bought lightsabers are acceptable because no self-respecting Jedi travels without a lightsaber! I would just tell your youngling that the blaster should stay home because Jabba the Hut might make it vanish like he did Luke Skywalker's!

Before you make the jump to hyperspace for your cruise, download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It will guide you in finding all the onboard entertainment and activities, especially during the Star Wars Day at Sea. Expect events of galactic proportions, like character meet and greets with the likes of Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO. Kids can learn to channel their inner Jedi in the “Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple” experience. If you like, watch all the Star Wars movies in the Buena Vista Theatre. And don't miss the “Summon the Force” deck party and fireworks show. I get goosebumps when I watch those fireworks set to the epic Star Wars music!

Amanda, as your sailing approaches faster than the Millennium Falcon, blast back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions.

May the Force be with you!
