In preparation for my Disney Cruise, I was wondering how close I can cut it on debark day when it comes to choosing a flight home. How long does it usually take to debark & get to Orlando Intl Airport from Port Canaveral? Thanks!

    Hi Emily,

I love hearing from fellow Granite Staters!  I am always amazed at how quickly the debarkation process happens, from what I hear Disney Cruise line is the most efficient at this in the industry!

I believe that the cruise line will tell you to book no earlier than 1:00 p.m., but I can tell you my flights always depart between 11:30 a.m. and noon, and I haven't missed one yet!

Typically the ship is cleared by U.S. Customs between 7:30-8:00 a.m. and at that time guests can debark the ship.  There will be an initial rush to get off the ship, but the process it usually quite speedy.  For instance, just this past week I left the ship at 8:30 with no lines and no waiting.  I had found my luggage and transfer and was on the road to the airport by 8:50 a.m.  It's a 45-60 minute ride to the airport.

So personally, I would book any flight after 11:30 a.m. and feel confident that I would make it to the airport in plenty of time.

    Good luck!
