Welcome to planDisney, Joseph!
Thanks for popping by with a question about
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside Resort. One of the things I love most about this resort is the incredible theming - strolling along the Sassagoula River and passing the grand mansions of Magnolia Bend and the charming cottages of Alligator Bayou really makes you feel like you’ve been transported to the heart of Louisiana.
The resort offers both Standard and Preferred rooms for Guests to choose from. Buildings 14, 15, 18 and 27 house the resort’s Preferred rooms and are found in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort. These buildings are closest to the bus stop in front of the lobby, near both a leisure pool and Ol’ Man Island - a sawmill-themed waterslide, pool and hot tub. They are also a skip away from Boatwright’s Dining Hall (head here if you’re looking for a Southern-inspired setting) and
Riverside Mill Food Court (my kids love the customizable pasta bowls).
My family especially loves the resort’s proximity to
Disney Springs. We usually make a fun little outing of it - grabbing a cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse, digging into a burger at D-Luxe Burger (the fry sauces are a must!), and wrapping things up with a classic hot fudge sundae from Ghirardelli. And honestly, the boat ride from Riverside to Disney Springs is half the fun! Gliding down the river on a Sassagoula River Cruise is such a relaxing way to travel, and I love that it drops you off right at the Marketplace dock just steps away from the Rainforest Café. If you are staying in a Preferred room, you’ll be close to the Boat Transportation to Disney Springs.
I hope this information is helpful, Joseph. Have a wonderful time exploring Disney’s Port Orleans - Riverside resort!
Happy planning,
Candace
