Hello Colette, and welcome to planDisney!
The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are a fun and unique way to enjoy your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Whether you want to sleep beneath the stars or bring your home on wheels, you get to enjoy all the benefits of staying in a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, but with the added benefit of connecting with nature and the animals that inspired some of Disney’s most famous characters, Bambi, Jiminy Cricket, Judy Hopps, and Thumper!
The fully equipped campsites are great for large families! Each site can accommodate up to eight (8) Guests and includes things like a picnic table, charcoal grill, television and electric hookups, and complimentary WiFi. While the preferred campsites you mention appear to be able to accommodate your camper (the concrete pad is 10’x45’), a Cast Member I spoke with confirmed that your reservation cannot exceed eight Guests unless the additional Guests are infants.
To accommodate your group, it sounds like you may need to book two campsites, so I would suggest contacting the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations phone number under the Reservations and Tickets section of
Disney’s Help Center to see if a Cast Member can work some magic and put a request on your reservation to have side by side sites so your group can be together. They may be able to provide some additional insight as to if there are any Full Hook-Up or Preferred Campsites located next to the least expensive Tent or Pop-Up Campsites to save money!
Colette, did you know you can decorate your campsite to personalize your stay on property? If your group has to split into two smaller groups spread across the Resort’s 750 acres, you could
rent bikes or a
golf cart to get back and forth. How cool! My favorite part about Fort Wilderness may be the
Chip ‘N’ Dale Campfire Sing-A-Long, but that could be due to my affinity for marshmallows or anything sweet.
I hope this helps with your vacation planning, Colette! If you have any additional questions about your Disney vacation or want more suggestions on accommodations for large families, please come back to planDisney or
ask me a question directly.
Thanks,
Brent
