We prefer to breakfast in our room in order to spend more time in the parks! We are staying at POR and won't have a car. Is the Publix Supermarket outside Downtown Disney within walking distance? If not, please could you suggest an alternative? Thank you.

Hi there, Jill! Thanks so much for the question, and congrats on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!  I think eating breakfast in your room prior to hitting the parks is a great way to maximize your day and save some money at the same time!

Unfortunately, the Publix you mention is not within walking distance but I have come up with a few tips that I hope you will find helpful:

    • Port Orleans Riverside features a great market, Fulton's General store, in which you will be able to find a nice variety of basic snacks and grocery items like milk, cereal, bread, juice, chips, etc.

    • If you are looking for a larger selection, I would recommend checking out a grocery delivery service such as GardenGrocer.com.  You can browse their user-friendly website and choose from thousands of grocery items which they will deliver to your resort at a specified time.  I have personally dealt with this company and can recommend them with 100% confidence and find their pricing to be very reasonable.

    • Another option is to make a quick stop to The Riverside Mill, the resort's food court.  Here you will find a nice variety of "grab-and-go" items such as fruit cups, pastries, and bagels,  as well as a menu of hot breakfast items which can be packed to go and enjoyed in your room.

    • A great tip is to bring cereal or other dry breakfast items in your suitcase.  You can always stop by Fulton's General Store for milk and other perishables when you arrive!
I am so glad I was able to answer your question here at the Moms Panel and I hope you will find my tips useful!  If you need any more advice on your Disney World vacation, please be sure to let us Moms know!
