Bonjour!
Welcome to planDisney, Helena! Thank you for visiting with your question today about your upcoming holiday to
Disneyland Paris! Just a couple of weeks and you will be exploring all the magic of
Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park, all during the
Disney Halloween Festival - my favourite time to visit any Disney Park!
As a fellow Guest from the UK, I have lots of experience travelling to, and I’m sure my husband would say, a little too much experience spending money at, Disneyland Paris! I actually haven’t exchanged money into Euros for many years now, as I find it much more convenient to use my debit card.
Mastercard, Visa, and American Express are widely accepted across the resort, and many UK banks offer debit and credit cards with no foreign transaction fees.
If you would prefer to use a prepaid travel card, just be sure to check that the card carries one of the payment logos mentioned above. I know that at the time of writing, the Post Office prepaid travel card is a Mastercard, but there are also many other options, so I recommend doing some research to find the best card for you.
My top tip is, if prompted by the chip and PIN machine, opt to pay in local currency rather than pounds. That way, you will get your bank’s exchange rate rather than the dynamic currency conversion rate, which is often less favourable. Please note, I am not a financial expert, so I recommend doing a little more research before you travel.
I hope this answers your question today, Helena, and that you have the best time when you visit my favourite holiday destination in Europe later this month. If you have any other vacation planning questions, please
reach out to me. I’d love to help!
See ya real soon!
Matt
