Hello, Leah! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I see that you are visiting Walt Disney World in October. It's one of my very favorite months to visit. Have you heard about the
all-new Boo Bash that is going to take place on select nights at Magic Kingdom Park? I'm really excited about it. It's an after-hours event that will include candy stops throughout the theme park, special character sightings, Halloween inspired cavalcades and so much more. Tickets have not yet gone on sale but when they do, I am sure it's going to fill up fast. If you are interested in the party, I'd keep an eye out over on the
Disney Parks Blog for an announcement.
Leah, at this time it is not possible to upgrade only one of your tickets that were bought together as a part of a package to the park hopper option. It's kind of an all or nothing policy. You would need to upgrade your entire 5-day standard theme park ticket to be able to park hop. There is a discount on the park hopper passes the longer your tickets are for so you would be paying a discounted rate each day for park hopper passes versus buying one outright. So I went ahead and took a look at the cost of theme park tickets for dates around the beginning of October. Depending on if you bought your tickets with a discounted package or not these prices may vary but I'm just giving you an example. For a 5 day standard base ticket for dates around the beginning of October you probably spent about $520.00 plus tax. I priced out what it would be for a 5 day park hopper ticket and the price I was quoted was right around $600.00 plus tax. The upgraded price in the grand scheme of things being right around or a little bit less than $100.00 isn't too bad in my opinion, especially with the flexibility that park hopping can give you.
If you are interested in upgrading your tickets to include the
park hopper option, I wanted to let you know that park hopping does look a little bit different right now. To park hop you will need to have standard theme park admission with the park hopper option. Then, you'll need to make a
park pass reservation for an initial theme park to visit each day. On that day, you will need to scan in and enter the theme park with the park pass reservation before continuing on to other parks. This sort of "activates" your park hopper each day. It is not necessary to make more than one park pass reservation each day, even if you plan on park hopping. Park hopping hours do start at 2:00 p.m. now and last until each park closes in the evenings.
Leah, I hope this helps you make a decision on park hopping. If you have any other questions, please come back and
ask me. I'm here to help.
Have fun!
