Hi, Therese!
I think your parents' plan is just perfect. The
Disney Resort hotels are truly "resorts" with so much to do and enjoy. There is nothing wrong with actually resting and relaxing and of course eating during a Walt Disney World vacation!
When your parents book their stay, have them book a "room only" reservation. This will require a deposit equal to one night's stay with the balance due upon arrival. They will still have access to all the
benefits of being Disney Resort hotel guest even without park tickets.
While you are at the parks, your parents can lounge by the pool, book a spa treatment, enjoy golf or mini-golf, go shopping or see a movie at
Disney Springs, rent a boat, or simply relax. They might have so much fun that you will be wanting to trade schedules with them!
Remember that they will not be able to enter any of the theme parks without
tickets, so plan to book any
Dining Reservations at the resorts or at Disney Springs. Some of my favorite restaurants are located in the Disney Resort hotels: Yachtsman Steakhouse, Whispering Canyon Café, and 'Ohana. You are able to book your dining 180 days in advance.
Tell your parents to enjoy their relaxing stay in Walt Disney World!
Cathy
