Hi Stephanie,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It sounds like you have a fantastic upcoming vacation planned to the Walt Disney World Resort!
Yes, you can certainly request a room location based on the mobility needs of a guest in your party. My family always has to to make such a request. I call guest services at 407-939-5277 and ask a cast member to note the request on our reservation. We typically request a first floor room close to the main dining area because my husband has difficulty walking and does not use a wheelchair. Although the resort will make every effort to accommodate requests, they are not guaranteed.
I suggest that you also do
online check-in through My Disney Experience. On the day of your arrival, you should receive a text message alert when your room is ready (assuming your room is ready prior to your actual arrival). Once you receive that text message, use an online resort map to check the room location to be sure the room location corresponds to your request. If the room is not where you would prefer, call the resort to see if there is another room they can provide. On one visit we requested a ground floor room but when I received the text message to tell us our room was ready, it was a third floor room.
There was a phone number included in the text message. I used that number to inquire about another room. We had to wait another hour and a half, but were able to get a ground floor room close to the main building. Be sure to review the
services for guests with disabilities as well.
Stephanie, I am sending pixie dust your way hoping you receive a room that suits your family's needs!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
