Hello there, Colbie. Let’s sprinkle some pixie dust and get an answer to your question!
Disney Gift Cards are a great way to keep yourself on budget while also giving your children the ability to spend a certain amount of “their own money” while at the resort. As a teacher, I love the level of responsibility you’re giving them. There’s a great life (and math) lesson in having them keep track of how much they have, what different items cost, and how they can budget to afford a few extras during their trip. And when it's
Disney Math, it's more fun, am I right?
At this time,
Disney Gift Cards cannot be directly linked to the
My Disney Experience mobile app or
MagicBands. However, if you are staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you can allow them to charge items to the room using their MagicBand. Then, when you return to the hotel, you can visit the
Front Desk and pay down those charges using the gift cards. There is also, of course, the option of having them use the gift cards directly. In fact, if you are visiting during an EPCOT festival, there are often specialty gift cards available at select
merchandise locations around
EPCOT that come on wristbands. With these nifty gift cards, they wouldn’t have to worry about losing them or pulling a card out of a pocket each time they want to make a purchase.
One of my favorite things about
Walt Disney World Resort, and especially EPCOT, is how much people can learn without even realizing they’re learning. From the World Showcase Pavilions that highlight the food and culture of countries around the world, to the historical details in Liberty Square at
Magic Kingdom Park, to the
animals in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, there is so much to discover while also laughing and creating memories. I always say that parents are children’s first and longest-lasting teachers. Even pointing out a small detail that connects to the real world and talking about it can enrich their understanding and help them grow into lifelong learners. And I don’t think there’s anything more magical than that!
Colbie, I hope you’re having a great week and finding some joy in planning. Please feel free to
reach out again if you have any other questions.
Sending warmth and
Olaf-level hugs your way,
Matt
