Hi Rocco,
Welcome to planDisney! It's always a great day when I can help a fellow Canadian with a Disney World planning question, so thanks for stopping by. Your question about the
Harmony Barber Shop has me reminiscing about my daughter's first haircut on Main Street, U.S.A.! She was so tiny sitting in the iconic burgundy chairs while the Cast Member cutting her hair kept her smiling and distracted during those very first snips. We had such a wonderful experience that a few years later, my nephew had his first haircut in the very same chair.
Each first haircut experience includes some special keepsakes like a commemorative Mickey Ears hat, a lock of hair and a certificate - such sweet souvenirs of a milestone moment. My daughter still loves to try on her ears even though she's grown so much since then!
During the haircut, parents are more than welcome to take photos and/or videos of their child getting their first trim, and Cast Members are happy to snap a family pic at the end. While
Disney PhotoPass Photographers are not typically stationed inside the Harmony Barbershop, I highly recommend popping outside afterward to see a Photographer for some memorable post-haircut pics on Main Street, U.S.A.
Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance right on the Walt Disney World website, and you can search your preferred date range to find the best availability. A credit card is needed to reserve your spot, but no worries - you won’t be charged unless you miss your appointment or cancel within 24 hours. At the moment, the no-show fee is $10.
If there is no availability for your date, the Harmony Barber Shop does accept a limited number of walk-ins each day. My nephew was in the same situation, so when we arrived at
Magic Kingdom for rope drop, we made a beeline for the shop and waited for it to open (usually around 9:00 a.m.). The Cast Members were wonderful and offered us a return time with only a short wait.
I hope this information is helpful as you plan your upcoming trip to
Disney World, Rocco. If any other questions pop up, please don't hesitate to revisit us at
planDisney - we'd love to help!
Happy planning,
Candace
