Anchors Aweigh, Michele!
Thank you so much for sailing by planDisney with your question. How exciting that you are thinking of taking a Disney Cruise Line cruise into the great wide somewhere. Our family has used our Disney Vacation Club Points several times to sail to dazzling places we never knew, and it is a wonderful way to use your Membership to explore Disney and beyond.
Michele, eligible Disney Vacation Club Members can use Vacation Points to pay for a Disney Cruise Line cruise. The Points required vary depending on which sailing you take, time of year, length of cruise and destination, and stateroom category.
To see the Points Charts, you can go to the Disney Vacation Club website and click on the "Destinations" tab from the top menu. From here, go to Disney Cruise Line and you'll see a blue button that says
"View All Points Charts." You can select a sailing you are interested in and see the Points required for that sailing based on the season, length of cruise and destination, and stateroom category.
The Points Cost is a per-person cost. Once you are ready to book, you can call
Member Services who can convert your Vacation Points into Reservation Points, check availability, and make the booking for you. Please note that there is a non-refundable $95 fee (subject to change) required to make the booking.
Now, here's a tip for you, Michele. You can use your eligible Vacation Points,
Banked Points, or
Borrowed Points to pay for a Disney Cruise. But, you can also use a
combination of Points and cash if you do not have enough Points to cover the entire cost of the cruise. The one thing to note about this option is that you must use Points to cover the full cost of at least one member of your party, and the rest can be paid for in cash. You just can't split an individual's cost with Points and cash.
We did this last year for our Disney Cruise. By using Points to pay for my oldest son and cash to pay for the rest of our family, we were able to maximize our Membership to make the cruise affordable and enjoy a whole new world of Disney magic.
I hope this helps you, Michele! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, sail back here and give me a wave. At planDisney, we are happy to welcome you aboard any time and assist you with planning the vacation of your dreams.
Bon Voyage,
Keri
