Is it possible to opt out of biometric photo identification as entry into Disneyland?

    Hi there, Andrea,

I can appreciate your interest in safeguarding privacy for you and other Guests of the Disneyland Resort. As a fellow Guest like you, I am pleased with how seriously the Walt Disney Company takes matters of privacy.

According to the Disney eTicket Terms and Conditions, each theme park ticket admits one person. Once a Guest uses a Disneyland Resort Theme Park ticket, that ticket becomes non-transferable. The following describes what I've observed about how Disney secures our park tickets from fraudulent use by other visitors. When a ticket is activated, the camera built into the park entry gate captures a photo of the Guest using the ticket and digitally attaches that photo to the eTicket. Cast Members use this photo to identify a Guest when they use the ticket for re-entry. There are various reasons why a Guest may need to use their ticket for re-entry. Their ticket may have the Park Hopper option, which allows them to visit the other theme park. Or the ticket may be valid for a multi-day visit. Or the ticket holder may wish to take a midday break at their Disneyland Resort Hotel or shop at the Downtown Disney District and return to the parks later.

At this time, there are no alternative procedures available for securely confirming the identity of a Guest using a theme park ticket for re-entry. Besides securing my park admission from fraudulent use, I can appreciate how digitally attaching my photo to my ticket or pass may also serve as my personal affirmation that I agree to adhere to park policies and rules. In that way, I also see it as an incentive for my fellow Guests and me to help keep the Disneyland Resort safe and secure for everyone. After all, it should always be known as The Happiest Place on Earth!

Here is some more information that may be helpful to learn more about your privacy and the rights you have and that Disney asserts while you are visiting the Disneyland Resort.

Thanks for your terrific question, Andrea. If you have any more questions or would like additional support in planning an upcoming visit to the Disneyland Resort, I hope you'll visit planDisney again.

Have a great time at the Disneyland Resort, Andrea!
