Is it possible to experience MK with a 5 year old and 8 month old in one day? We are staying at a Disney resort, so the plan is to take a break for a few hours. Any advice on timing this would be great!

    Hi Shayna,

Your children are at such a great age to head to Magic Kingdom! Your baby will be amazed at all there is to see, and your 5-year-old is at a wonderful age to experience the magic. Be sure to check out the Walt Disney World planning page for families with young children. This page has great tips and suggestions for experiencing Walt Disney World with little ones. You can also watch the Walt Disney World planning video online to get an idea of what you would like to experience at Magic Kingdom.

As for going to Magic Kingdom for just one day with your children, I say go for it. Magic Kingdom is huge and has so much to offer that no one can experience everything in one day! My family believes that what is important is that we have a great day together doing things that we love. Choose a few experiences that you really want to have - perhaps your 5-year-old can even help choose - and be sure to do those.

I suggest that you make some Disney FastPass+ selections for early in the day. Since you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you will be able to make three Disney FastPass+ selections 60 days before your check-in. Some attractions that might be a good Disney FastPass+ selection for your children include Peter Pan's Flight and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Once you have used all three of your selections, you will be able to make another, and then another after you have used that, based on availability, for the rest of the day.

I also agree with your plan to take a break in the middle of the day. Little ones can get cranky without rest! You will be able to use the Disney transportation to head back to your resort hotel midday.

Please do let us know if you have any further questions, Shayna!
