Is it possible to get engaged during Oogie Boogie bash in California adventure? With it being busy, is this frowned upon? Also, will I be able to get my ring through security?

    Hiya, Edgar! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh my goodness, you've come to the perfect place to ask this question, and I promise to do my best to give you some advice without spoiling the surprise! I love that you're planning to propose during Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party! After all, even in a place like Halloween Town, Jack and Sally found their happily ever after, so what better place for you to start yours than in the Happiest Place on Earth! Congratulations on finding your “boo”! (See what I did there??)

Proposing during a special event like Oogie Boogie Bash will make the moment even more magical. I know you mentioned your concern about the crowds, but let me assure you, proposing at the Disneyland Resort is absolutely not frowned upon—in fact, it's celebrated! The park will be filled with happy couples and Guests who love to celebrate special moments. So, don't be surprised if any fellow Guests in the area get super excited and cheer for you when you pop the question!

As you plan for this special moment, Edgar, I’d love to share some spectacular backdrops that may be perfect for your proposal. The Carthay Circle Restaurant on Buena Vista Street with its sparkling marquee lights is a classic and beautiful choice. I just love the Old Hollywood vibe. If you’re looking for something that really dials up the Halloween theme, a photo-op with the Headless Horseman statue would also be a spectacular option! Or, if you’d prefer something a little less seasonal but equally vibrant and iconic, Pixar Pier is always a great choice—the colorful Pixar Pal-A-Round attraction would make for an amazing photo backdrop.

One thing to keep in mind is that the park will be somewhat dark to give that spooky ambiance, so if you'd like to take photos, you'll want to find a well-lit location, like a parade route or a glowing photo-op spot. Even better, you can locate Disney PhotoPass photographers throughout the park who will be happy to snap some pictures with professional cameras and great lighting—no selfies needed!

Now, you also asked about getting the ever-important engagement ring through the security entrance. You’ll be happy to know that you can definitely bring the ring right on through. The security Cast Members are used to seeing proposals and celebratory moments, so you're in great hands! Here's a playful tip for getting the ring box through security without your partner noticing. While the Cast Member may need to take a quick peek inside the box, you can distract your fiancée-to-be by pointing in the opposite direction and saying something like, "Oh my gosh, is that Goofy dressed as a ghost?!" This will hopefully buy you the few seconds you need to get the ring through without them noticing!

I'm wishing you a spooky and spectacular engagement, Edgar! You've got this! And remember, whether you're in Halloween Town or the Happiest Place on Earth, you and your significant other are bound to have an amazing story to tell. Let us know if you need any other tips for making this a night to remember!

    Have a magical day!
