Is it possible to take a cruise and have one big suite that will comfortably fit 4 adults and 2 kids?

    Hello, LaToria,

Oh boy! It sounds like you've got a big, magical voyage in mind. I love it! Going on a Disney cruise with a large group is tons of fun. Our first cruise ever was on the Disney Wonder. But I admit that when we first started planning our cruise adventure for our family of six, we felt discouraged and overwhelmed with booking and logistics. After we figured out a way to make it work for our family, I was so excited. As a planDisney Panelist, I'm grateful for the opportunity I have to help many large parties like yours find a path forward toward a magical journey aboard the Disney Cruise Line.

Here's the secret that we discovered. It helped to adapt our mindset from land-based concepts to nautical concepts. While a cruise ship is sort of like a large land-based hotel in many ways, there are unique arrangements necessary to make everything fit and work out on a seafaring vessel. A big aspect of that is the size and configurations of cruise ship staterooms. The result is that most staterooms are designed to fit up to three to five passengers. Some ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet happen to have a few staterooms that accommodate up to six passengers. In some cases, there may even be a high-end concierge stateroom suite that may be used by up to eight passengers. But the vast majority of staterooms are designed for five or fewer guests.

So what is the best solution for large parties like ours? In my opinion, it's best to book multiple staterooms instead of a single larger suite. The Disney Cruise Line Find a Cruise page even lets you search for more than one stateroom at a time and limit the search to only available staterooms with a connecting door between them. That way, it's almost like building your own large suite, but at a more economical cost than a concierge-level stateroom. With this approach, a bonus that I'm sure your group will appreciate is that you'll also have double the bathrooms! That makes getting ready for dinner in one of the rotational dining restaurants that much easier with a lot of people in your party.

I hope you find a great stateroom combination or suite to suit your needs, LaToria. As you continue to get ready for your Disney Cruise Line adventure, please don't hesitate to stop by planDisney again for more tips and recommendations.

    Bon voyage, LaToria!
    ~Tony
