Is it possible to get up close to The Tree of Life during construction?

    Hiya, Robyn! Welcome to planDisney!

Animal Kingdom is such a beautiful and magical theme park, and the majestic Tree of Life is a huge part of that. Towering over the park at 145 feet tall and featuring over 300 animals carved into its exterior, I still manage to see something new on its trunk each time I visit. It really is an icon of Walt Disney World.

I talked with a friendly Cast Member and checked with some fellow panelists currently at Walt Disney World, and the construction in the Tree of Life theater for the upcoming “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” is not currently impacting guest access to the outside of the Tree of Life. The Discovery Island Trails that weave their way around the tree are open to guests and offer a great opportunity to admire the Tree of Life up-close, as well as see animals such as the Asian Small-Clawed Otter and Ring-Tailed Lemur.

Access to the Tree of Life and Discovery Island Trails may change as construction continues and depending on when you visit the park (attraction availability is subject to change without notice). I would suggest checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates, as well as looking for changes on the park map in the My Disney Experience mobile app. There are so many amazing things happening at Walt Disney World in 2025, especially at Animal Kingdom, that you’ll want to stay in the know as your trip approaches.

I hope this information helps you plan the most magical Walt Disney World vacation, Robyn. Don’t hesitate to come back if any other questions arise. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!

    Magical travels!
