Chris from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Is it possible to change the color of the Epcot ball to pink or blue for a gender reveal?

Hey there, Chris! Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, you have sailed through the universe of time to arrive at the best Disney vacation planning resource: planDisney. Welcome!

Spaceship Earth (also known informally as the EPCOT Ball) is one of Walt Disney World's most iconic attractions. Did you know it’s one of the largest free-standing spheres in the world? That’s right! According to some online sources, Spaceship Earth is an impressive 180 feet tall, has a 165-foot diameter, and weighs over 16 million pounds. It takes 954 triangular panels to cover the whole structure.

I could go on and on with the Spaceship Earth fun facts, but on to your question!

I’m sorry to report that it’s not possible to request a color change on Spaceship Earth as part of a gender reveal or for any other personal event. The lighting design package on the exterior of the attraction is created in advance to sync with a soundtrack and celebrate different seasons or special park events. For example, on my last visit to EPCOT I saw Spaceship Earth light up in a starlight and rainbow pattern while “Rainbow Connection” played throughout that part of the park. It was an amazing and moving experience!

One option, although not quite as epic as your idea, is to book a photography session with a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member for a gender reveal or new baby celebration. Capture Your Moment sessions are 20-minute personalized photography sessions, and they are available in all four theme parks (prices, services, and locations subject to change and availability). At EPCOT, you can choose from the Germany Pavilion, Italy Pavilion, American Adventure Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, or Morocco Pavilion for your session. These are a popular offering, so reservations are highly recommended

I hope this information helps, Chris. Come right back if you have any other questions. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!

    Magical travels!
