Hey there, Jaime! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with your vacation planning question. I always love chatting Disney with a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member!
Before you know it, you'll be arriving at The Most Magical Place on Earth, ready to begin your next magical adventure! How exciting! As a long-time DVC Member, you are definitely familiar with how much walking is involved in a pixie-dusted Disney day. As a Physical Therapist, I am so happy to hear that you are planning ahead to make your health, comfort and safety in the theme parks a priority, and I am so honored to answer your question today.
I think you will be happy to hear that walking canes are permitted in the
Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, and since there is nothing that mentions folding canes under the
list of prohibited items, I think that using a folding cane as needed is not only allowed, but it's a great idea! When you go through security, you may just have to unfold it to show the Security Cast Member that it is a mobility cane.
The planner in me always needs a plan B, just in case ... If you find that at the end of a long day, your cane is just not enough assistance, remember that
wheelchairs are available for rent at all of the theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs. Now, you should be all set to start that Disney vacation countdown!
I hope this was helpful, Jaime, and I hope you have the most magical and unforgettable fall vacation! Please stop by any time with any vacation planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!
I hope to see ya real soon,
Mandy
