Hi Kate!
I'm so excited to help you plan your stay at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside as I just returned from my own magical vacation at the same resort hotel last week! I joined a group of mom friends, and between our four families we had two room and five kids all under the age of 3.
Both rooms for our group were in a building of the Alligator Bayou section of Riverside, and it was absolutely perfect for our crew. What I liked best about these rooms is that they are designed with a child-size Murphy bed that folds away when you need the extra space, for a total of three beds. (Click '
View Photos' under the Standard, Pool or Garden View rooms, and scroll to the end of the slideshow. The Murphy bed is the one underneath the picture of the sleeping alligator.)
My roommate's son slept in a pack and play that they brought from home and we found that even with both boys in their own beds, we still had plenty of room. While you are certainly able to
request a portable crib or playpen for your youngest Mouseketeer at the time of your reservation, these are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your Disney Resort Hotel will work hard to find one available at another location should you arrive very late and all of theirs are already lent out. However, I'm the over-packer and if having that extra sleep space is absolutely vital to your vacation plan, I would suggest bringing one along with you if you can, or perhaps renting one from a third-party company.
Bonus Tip: Each Disney Resort Hotel also has complimentary bed rails to ensure that the little ones stay in bed.
We'll See You Real Soon, Kate!
