Is it possible to take a boat to EPCOT from the Boardwalk Inn and then walk through EPCOT to take the Monorail to Magic Kingdom or will the Park Reservation requirement not allow us to do that?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Jeff. I'm so glad you've stopped by with your question. I see that you have a Walt Disney World vacation planned for early next year. I can't think of a better way to kick off 2022 than a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. You are going to have so much fun!

Jeff, to get from Disney's BoardWalk Inn to Magic Kingdom Park the best, most direct route for you is going to be taking the bus directly from the resort there. Depending on the time of day, ticket type and where your park pass reservations are for the day it may or may not be possible to walk through Epcot to use the monorail.

To enter multiple Walt Disney World Theme Parks in one day, you've got to have theme park tickets with the park hopper upgrade. Then, you would need to have park pass reservations for the first park you plan on visiting that day. Also, park hopping hours do not start until after 2:00 p.m. each day. To make your plan work, you would need to have the park hopper ticket option, a park pass reservation at Epcot for the day and then it would have to be after 2:00 p.m. to enter Magic Kingdom Park. If your park pass reservations are at Magic Kingdom Park, you have to enter that theme park before continuing on to other theme parks after 2:00 p.m.  If you've gone to Magic Kingdom Park earlier in the day and decide to take an afternoon break for a swim or a nap and then want to go back to Magic Kingdom Park in the evening for fireworks you could technically take the boat over to Epcot and then walk through to the monorail - as long as you have the park hopper ticket option.

However, this all seems like a lot of work when you can just take a direct bus there. It's going to save you so much time. If you are wanting to take a ride on the monorail for fun, once you are at Magic Kingdom Park you can hop on it there and take it to the resorts nearby. The monorail loop stops at Disney's Contemporary Resort, the Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa before making its way back to Magic Kingdom Park. The monorail ride around provides stunning views of the resorts and Cinderella Castle. It's a fun ride!

I hope this clears up any confusion. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help. Have fun and happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
