Is it possible to, in advance of a visit or particular day of a Disney trip, ask for a particular character's appearance either at an attraction or even a hotel?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Christian! You’re as welcome as can be to planDisney. What a "Joy" it is to anticipate a Walt Disney World vacation! Especially when it is sprinkled with so many beloved Disney characters.

To answer your question: don't I wish that we could request characters! Even with pixie dust, that would be pretty tricky to pull off because everyone would want in on that action! Not to be all "Sadness" on you! Just want to give you the full picture.

Instead, Disney has implemented many new character opportunities that are very endearing and entertaining. Two of the most adorable character moments I've seen are happening at EPCOT, both located in the Imagination! Pavilion gardens. First, that silly old bear Winnie the Pooh entertains Guests by chasing butterflies with his butterfly net. Meanwhile, Joy from Inside Out frolics around as she totally lives up to her name.

Character Cavalcades are these pop-up mini parades that randomly occur at all the parks. Magic Kingdom boasts several new character interactions along the traditional parade route. For princess fans, don’t miss the Royal Princess Processional in the Magic Kingdom, featuring Merida, Tiana, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Elena of Avalor and Fairy Godmother. There's even special Halloween cavalcades happening, too!

In new entertainment offerings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, many characters like Goofy, Chip and Dale can been seen cruising down the Discovery River. EPCOT joins in the fun with a Frozen Promenade with Anna and Elsa visiting from Arendelle. Naturally, the galactic edge has to go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Star Wars characters making appearances and an adorable Mickey and Friends Motorcade with themed cars showcasing the character’s personalities. Entertainment offerings are always subject to change, but this just shows you that the characters are out and about and still love to play...just like Bing Bong!

For character dining that’s off the charts, make a breakfast reservation with Mickey and pals at Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Festive atmosphere? Check! Delicious French and Italian cuisine? Another check! But the pièce de résistance is the parade of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in their artistic outfits unique to Topolino’s Terrace. It's my new favorite character dining experience in all of Walt Disney World!

Phew! We’ve hardly scratched the surface on all the character fun to be found. So if you think of anything else, come back over to planDisney, especially if you want to know specifically where certain characters can be found. I’d be happy to help you with that. Wishing you grand adventures as you make core memories with your family!

    See ya real soon!
