Hiya, Lindsey!
Welcome to planDisney – thanks for bringing your thoughtful question our way as you get ready for an exciting visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort in just a few days! You’re arriving at the perfect time; it still feels like summer vacation vibes, but the festive fall decorations and events will start coming out to socialize with the start of
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party that week.
Disney gift cards can be used at most locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, but I can appreciate the ease of paying with a quick scan of your
MagicBand+. I’m happy to help explain how this can work for you seamlessly. Your MagicBand+ can only be used for charging purchases if you’re staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel as the credit card is saved to your resort reservation and not the band itself. The MagicBand+ is a magical way to quickly make transactions on the go but ultimately your resort folio is charged. The resort then clears these transactions with the credit card you have on file with them, which you added during online check-in or confirm at the front desk when you arrive.
You may visit the front desk of your resort upon arrival, or anytime throughout your stay, to have Disney gift cards applied to your running balance. I’ve done this many times before and it’s a quick, seamless process.
You can also carry the gift card with you and use it at most locations throughout the theme parks and resorts at the point of purchase. Whichever method you choose, you can definitely put those gift cards to good use on your trip!
You’re going to love your MagicBand+, Lindsey – be sure to wear it for any nighttime spectaculars you enjoy for additional effects during the experience. You can also customize the default colorization of the lights right within your
My Disney Experience App! There are limited-time offerings or some great color combinations to help personalize your band’s style when you scan.
I hope you have a wonderful vacation! Please send us any additional questions you have as you finalize your plans; we’d love to help. If you have questions once you’re on site, be sure to visit the
Guest Experience Team under the blue umbrellas throughout the theme parks for quick help.
See ya real soon!
