Hi Laura! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I'm so happy to hear you've already discovered the wonders and phenomenal cosmic powers of adding
Genie+ to your ticket! It truly makes for a whole new world of Disney planning. I bet you can't wait to hop on your magic carpet and sail right into the Happiest Place on Earth!
It sounds like you've already got your theme park tickets (and hopefully theme park reservations!) lined up for a trip in August! At this point, you will have to wait until you scan into the parks each day to add Genie+ to your experience. While this may sound like a hassle, it's so easy you won't have to even use one of Genie's three wishes to help you! I have done it both ways, having Genie+ ahead of time and adding it to my ticket the day of, and, honestly, there was no difference when it came to planning my park days. Once you scan through, open up the
Disneyland Mobile App and tap the "+" in the bottom navigation bar. Select "View My Genie Day and Tip Board" and toggle to "My Day". Here, you should see the option to "Take Today to the Next Level" and add Genie + to your ticket. You can link your group's tickets in your app ahead of time and then be able to purchase Genie+ for everyone all together or you can each do it individually.
As soon as the purchase is confirmed, those
Lightning Lanes are yours! You can make your first selection immediately, and your second selection as soon as you use the first Lightning Lane OR two hours after you've made the first if it's for later in the day. And don't forget my favorite perk - unlimited digital downloads of all the
Disney PhotoPass photos taken each day. There is no better way to remember the magic than by grabbing some iconic family photos in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle!
As you get ready for your trip, be sure to listen to
Episode 2 of the planDisney Podcast, talking ALL things Disneyland Resort and the return of the Nighttime Spectaculars!
World of Color,
Fantasmic!, and the
Main Street Electrical Parade all have two showtimes per evening, weather permitting.
Disneyland Forever fireworks usually has one show, so if that's a priority, be sure to make your nighttime plans around it! My best piece of advice would be to stake out a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. for the first performance of the Main Street Electrical Parade. As soon as the parade passes by, the Cast Members will let the crowd flood the street before those fireworks light up the night!
Laura, I hope this was helpful in your planning! Reach back out to us if you have any more questions. We are always here for you at
planDisney.
Magic awaits!
Tara
