Hey there, Rose! Welcome back to planDisney!
In just days, you'll be embarking on your oh-so-magical adventure at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Woohoo! I know you must be bursting with excitement. Since it sounds like you're planning to spend less time in line and more time in the magic by taking advantage of
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, your planning is off to a practically perfect start. Now, let's tie up your loose planning ends so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the magic!
While Slinky Dog Dash is an attraction from the group of experiences that you can only make one Lightning Lane selection for in advance, I think you will be happy to hear that once you’ve tapped into your first Lightning Lane, you can make another selection from
any group. This is actually my favorite strategy to maximize the magic of the Multi Pass. I make my three selections in advance and make one selection arrival window as close to park opening as possible. Then, once I’ve tapped into that first Lightning Lane, I can snag another one from any group, based on availability. Doing this early in the day increases the odds that you’ll find an arrival time for one of the more popular attractions!
While this works theoretically, the additional Lightning Lane selections you make on the day of your park visit are based on availability. And I must tell you that Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most popular attractions, and in my experience, it books up faster than you can say, "There's a snake in my boot." Therefore, if you weren't able to make a Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog in advance, I suggest "rope dropping" it. This means you will arrive at Disney's Hollywood Studios before park opening to line up early and beat the crowds and long lines by heading to Slinky Dog as soon as the park opens.
Since riding Slinky Dog Dash at night is one of my favorite experiences, you can also plan to hop in line right before the park closes. In my experience, as long as you are in line before the park closes, the Cast Members will allow you to ride. This way, you are not spending precious pixie-dusted park time waiting in line. The only downside to this is that if bad weather or mechanical issues happen, you don't have another chance to ride that day.
Speaking of bad weather, since Slinky Dog Dash is an outdoor attraction, it will stop running if there is lightning or severe weather in the area. So, before you plan out when you want to dip and dash, keep an eye on the weather forecast!
I hope this helps, Rose, and I hope you have the most magical visit! Please stop by any time with any questions you may have.
You've got a friend in me,
Mandy
