Ahoy there, Paul! Welcome to planDisney!
Tortola, BVI, is one of my favorite Disney Cruise Line Ports of Call! I always look forward to my morning cup of coffee on my verandah, with the lush green hills and turquoise sea in front of me. It makes for a beautiful morning and the perfect precursor to a great day ashore!
San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the other hand, is a Port of Call that I will soon cross off my Disney Cruise Bucket List, as I just booked a sailing to San Juan this week! I’m so excited that your family will also be visiting Tortola and San Juan, and I’d love to help you plan your days!
When choosing a
Port Adventure, I recommend choosing one operated by Disney Cruise Line. This is because you can guarantee the same level of service that you’re used to while on board your ship. Disney Cruise Line will take care of everything, from your transportation to and from the beach, and communicating any information about your Port Adventure while on board. All you need to do is book your Port Adventures and look forward to the perfect beach days ahead! You can book Port Adventures on the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, once your
booking window opens, under the “My Plans” section of your reservation.
In San Juan, the
Isla Verde Beach Day (SJ75) looks like a super family-friendly beach option, with a short 20-minute drive from the pier, offering beach chairs and covered umbrellas, making for the perfect San Juan family beach day! Bonus tip: your 2-year-old is a guest of Mickey Mouse during this Port Adventure, as only guests 3 and older are charged for it!
As for Tortola, I’ve had many beautiful beach days here! One such Port Adventure is the
Beach Express (TT68). It's also a short 20-minute drive, offering shaded umbrellas, plenty of beach chairs, and snacks that you can purchase, making for the perfect day relaxing while your kiddos build a sandcastle nearby.
Speaking from my own experience, I would bring extra clothes for your kiddos during both Port Adventures. This is really for your own comfort as opposed to theirs, so that you can remain relaxed on the scenic drive back to the pier, instead of hearing about their itchy and sandy legs (this one might still be haunting me).
Lastly, both Ports of Call are extremely walkable and offer many beautiful family photo opportunities. In fact, some of my favorite seaside family photos have been taken at Tortola, with those picturesque tree-top covered hills as the backdrop!
Paul, I hope I was able to provide you with exciting options for your upcoming sailings to Tortola and San Juan. I wish your family the most magical memories during your cruise! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions.
Seas the Adventure,
Rana
