Which Port Orleans Resort is more kid-friendly? I'm planning my daughter's first trip to DW for October 2013 (she'll be 4) and can't decide between French Quarter and Riverside. It will also be my husband's first trip too!

    Hi Amanda!

Congratulations on the planning of your Daughter's (and husband's!) First Trip to Walt Disney World! How exciting!

Those are two great resorts you're trying to decide between. Both Port Orleans Riverside, and French Quarter are very kid-friendly with great water slides, kids' play areas and more!

If a quaint, quieter property appeals to you, then look no further than French Quarter to fulfill all your possible needs and wishes. It's by far my favourite of the Moderate Disney Resort properties, sort of a hidden gem!

Now, if your daughter is your Princess, and you'd like something a little extra special, just for her, then you may want to consider Port Orleans Riverside as they have some brand new, very special room types there. A stay in one of the new Royal Guest Rooms may just the thing you need to make this first Walt Disney World vacation extra magical! Take a peek at this Video about the Royal Guest Rooms on the Disney Parks Blog to decide if it's perfect for your Princess!

At either of the Port Orleans Resort, you'll find tons of fun for youngsters.
If it were my Princess' first trip, I think I'd definitely lean towards a Royal Room at Riverside, and enjoy the quaintness of French Quarter on a subsequent visit! I think you'll find that Riverside has some great features that you will ALL enjoy together, including carriage rides on the pathway along the river, the boat down the Sassagoula to Downtown Disney, great dining options and even old fashioned cane pole fishing!

You really can't go wrong here!

If you have any further questions, I really hope you'll visit me again soon Amanda!
Wishing you a simply Magical time as you plan your daughter's first Walt Disney World vacation!
