Ahoy there Clarizza and welcome to planDisney!
One of my favorite things to do whenever I set sail is to book a
Port Adventure that can enhance our experience and connect with the local sights, sounds and culture in each
Port of Call around the world. Sometimes, plans change along the way and I'm glad you came to ask about your options to switch out party members on your upcoming expedition as I've run into this situation more than once in the past.
You'll be happy to hear that it's fairly simple to cancel a
Port Adventure previously booked in advance, which you can do by accessing
My Reservations when you
sign in to your account. Note that you'll want to do this as early as possible for more popular Port Adventures, so that you don't miss any available spots - in my experience, it was usually safer to first make the booking for the person you'd like to add before canceling those who won't be able to take part. There's always the risk that as you cancel a reservation, another guest may take up that spot - so I also recommend
speaking with a Cast Member for assistance do that they may be able to make the arrangements for you on their end; in the past they have been very helpful!
Something you'll want to be very aware of is the official
Cancellation Policy for most Port Adventures: they become non-refundable 3 days prior to the departure date of your particular voyage. Friends of mine recently experienced a situation wherein a member of their family fell ill and was unable to make it to a particular Port Adventure; upon speaking with the Port Adventures Desk on board an exception was made in their case to replace their booking information with someone staying in the same Stateroom.
I spoke with a Guest Services Crew Member who discouraged this as there is no guarantee that accommodations can be made as it is ultimately up to availability and the discretion of the crew on board who have every right to uphold the policy and offer no option to refund or transfer. They let me know that there are many reasons why guests cannot easily swap out their Port Adventure tickets including age requirements, physical limitations and the fact that the ship needs to be aware of everyone who is booked on the Port Adventure in the event that any situation arises while they are in Port.
I hope this was a helpful bit of nautical knowledge for you Clarizza! Come back to planDisney any time to ask
me and my crew of experts about anything that can help for your future voyages.
Wishing you all the best on your upcoming adventure!
