I see there are port adventures available (for pay) for 3 year olds? Can the 1 year old also go on these? Specifically the ones for Alaska cruise - the train and the salmon/glacier view ones. I'm assuming the young one can go for free. Help please.

    Hi there, Elizabeth!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  Now that the Disney Wonder is in Alaska for the summer, your Disney Cruise Line vacation is coming up so soon!  My family is actually headed to visit Alaska with Captain Mickey next month and I know we are counting down the days, as I am sure you are too!  We are definitely looking forward to some cooler temperatures and escaping the hot Texas summer!

Disney Cruise Line’s Port Adventures team does a fantastic job of finding the best of the best excursions for Guests to do while on land!  I always know that once I decide which excursion to book (usually that’s the hardest part) all I have to do is show up and enjoy because they have taken care of everything for me!  Some of the excursions do have age requirements, which are listed in the description.  Some of them allow children under three to participate, but it will specifically state that along with any cost associated with their reservation.  Some excursions do require a ticket for the littles so there is a cost to book their ticket, but if that is the case, it will be listed.  Additionally, you will be able to determine whether or not the excursion allows little Mouseketeers when you go to book it online.  If it allows you to select your one-year old then they can certainly go, but if they do not meet the age requirements then it will not allow you to select that Guests name to make the reservation.  Since I am not exactly sure which specific voyage you are on and there are a variety of different train and glacier viewing options, I cannot answer exactly whether or not a one-year old is allowed on the specific excursions you are looking at.

You can, if you choose to, leave your little one in the “it’s a small world” nursery! onboard while you get off the ship for an excursion, if need be.  We have often done that when our boys were too small to participate and felt completely comfortable leaving them with the wonderful nannies in there!  I would only recommend being sure to book a nursery reservation at the same time that you book a Port Adventure since there is limited space in the nursery.

If you have any other questions as your adventure approaches, please come back!  Wishing you a WONDERful and memorable adventure!

    Happy Sailing!
