We are going to POR next week (super excited!). We booked a royal room, is this one of the preferred rooms? I have been reading about how large the resort is and I am worried about my 3 yo having to walk super far all the time. Any thoughts?

    Hello, Bonnie,

Oh my goodness, your trip if probably right about to happen! I'm so excited for you and hope you get this answer before you leave.  Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside holds so many special memories for me as it was the resort we stayed at regularly when our children were younger. I'm sure you'll make just as many great memories! At the resort, the Royal Rooms are located in buildings 90 and 95 in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort.  The Preferred Rooms are located in buildings 14, 15, 18, and 27 in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort.  Both buildings 90 and 95 are midway between two different bus stops; it probably depends on your actual room which one is closest. They also have a pool between the buildings, and the main pool is not significantly far away.

When we stayed at larger resorts when our children were still toddlers, we brought our own stroller so that it would be easier to move around at the resort, especially after a day at the parks when they often fell asleep on the way back. When you arrive at the resort and find you don't like the location, you could certainly ask about moving rooms.  If there is availability, they may be able to accommodate your request.

Wishing you a magical trip!  -Kara
