We will be in POR in March. For the Boat rentals, can we take them to DTD, dock it, get ice cream, and come back? As for Disney buses, is it faster to take the rental car, or take the bus? If we drive, how far are we from main gate at each park to get to?

Hi Dave! Transportation information is very important when trying to plan your Disney vacation to be as stress free as possible.

March is generally a fairly busy time of year in the parks due to spring break vacations. If you plan on arriving to the parks at opening time it can be easier to drive and park as you will be in fairly close proximity to the entrances. If you are thinking about park hopping I suggest you use the bus transportation so you are not having to move a car around throughout the day.

The one exception to driving to a park is the Magic Kingdom. Definitely use the bus transportation as they will drop you off next to the entrance gates. If you drive you will have to park in the lots and then stop to take either the ferry boat or the monorail to get over to the park. This will take much longer.

Parking at Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot will give you a walk to the entrance but if you arrive early it is not bad and you won't need to worry about a tram. Later in the day you can use the parking lot tram service to reach the gates. The buses drop you off fairly close at the Hollywood Studios, but for the Animal Kingdom and Epcot the drop off points are a good walk to the entrances.

I have never seen the marina allowing guests to stop and dock at Downtown Disney with their rental boats. But with all things Disney that can change so be sure and stop by and ask the resort marina cast members what their ruling is on this. With so much changing at Downtown Disney now the opportunities to dock are far and few between.

Enjoy your upcoming trip in March. I will be joining my family at that time and can't wait for some nice warm weather myself!
