Is a portable/foldable pop up tent designed for 3 allowed to be brought on board (Disney cruise to the Bahamas) for beach use. We have a one and two year old we need to shield from the sun.

    Hiya Mimi!

Welcome aboard planDisney! Fun in the sun is great until someone gets burned or overheated, so I'd be happy to share some ideas for protecting your family.

While small popup tents designed for infants are allowed, larger tents and beach umbrellas are not allowed on your Disney Cruise. The good news is that Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point have plenty of beach umbrellas waiting for you! If you hit the beach early you shouldn't have a problem getting a shady spot.

With two kiddos of my own, I do have some other tips on keeping the sun off your little Mouseketeers:

    • A nice, wide-brimmed UPF hat. I especially like the ones with a chin strap (the beach can be breezy) and a longer cover in the back to keep the sun off your neck.
    • A long-sleeve UPF rashguard. I found some for my kids that zip up like a jacket over their regular swimsuits so they're easy to get on and off.
    • Lightweight UPF pants for hanging out on the beach. My kids loved playing with sand as toddlers, but they didn't like sitting on it!
I see you're from Arizona, so I'm probably telling you things you already know, but these items have worked really well for me on our cruises. Don't forget to protect yourself, too! I kid you not, I have a packable hat for myself with an enormous brim that is like sitting with an umbrella on my head. I probably look ridiculous, but I love that hat!

It's always a good idea to check the prohibited and restricted items list while you're packing to make sure you don't bring anything that will delay your boarding process. There's also a great list of things you should pack to help you remember all the essentials!

Vacation is for everyone, not just the kiddos, so you might want to book some time for your little ones to visit the "it's a small world" Nursery. There is a small extra charge, but it's so worth it! The whole area is darling and the Cast Members do a fabulous job looking after tiny sailors. It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy a meal at an adult-exclusive restaurant, catch a movie, or visit the spa!

Wishing you and your family an amazing cruise, Mimi!

    Keep moving forward!
