Walt Disney World is pretty much guaranteed to be HOT, so I certainly appreciate that you're already making plans to take advantage of the pools at your resort. I'm happy to report that you absolutely can use the pools on your check-in date, even if your room isn't ready yet. When you arrive, drop your bags with Bell Services, and they can hang onto them until it's time to head to your room. There are bathrooms located near the pools where you can change into your swimwear, and then you'll be ready to enjoy the water to your heart's content.
Another option to keep cool on your arrival day is a FREE trip to one of the Disney Water Parks! Guests checking into any Disney Resorts Collection hotel (which includes all of the DVC properties) may enjoy a visit to either Disney's Blizzard Beach water park or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park on their check-in day. Again, you can check your bags with Bell Services and then hop on a complimentary Disney bus from your resort to the water park. There are locker rooms and shower facilities at both water parks, and you can bring in a smaller bag with essentials like sunscreen and water bottles.
