Since the Polynesian monorail station is closed, what options are there to get to and from Magic Kingdom? Bus or boat, or both? And do you know when the monorail will be reopened at Poly? Thanks!

    Welcome back to planDisney, Diana!

Thank you for sending another question our way! It is a pleasure to continue to help you plan magical memories at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of my family’s favorite Disney Resort hotels and we cannot wait to enjoy all the exciting updates coming to this iconic location when it reopens in summer 2021. Guests are currently welcome to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, however monorail service is temporarily suspended. Although we still do not have an exact date for the reopening of the monorail station, I recommend that you keep checking the hotel website and the Disney Parks Blog for more information.

There are great options to get to and from Magic Kingdom Park if you are soon staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Bus transportation is currently being offered between this Disney Vacation Club Resort and Magic Kingdom Park, and you are also welcome to take a water launch (also known as a water taxi) or walk over to the Transportation and Ticket Center to board one of the ferryboats or hop on the monorail. In addition, you can now walk all the way to the park because there is a new walkway connecting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Magic Kingdom Park. I have not had the opportunity to use this new walkway yet, but I have already walked from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and it took me about 15 minutes. I believe that depending on your walking pace and where your room is located, it may take from 20 to 30 minutes to walk all the way to the park. I love enjoying a morning stroll, so this may be the perfect option for me on my next visit. Since we are going through unprecedented times and updates can be made without notice, I recommend speaking with Cast Members upon arrival to confirm the transportation options available during your visit.

It was a pleasure answering your question, Diana! I hope this helps you while planning and that you have a magical visit.

    Best Disney wishes,
    Thiana
