Will there be a Polar Express ride in 2024?

Welcome to planDisney, Petkana. I'm so happy to meet you!

When you visit the Walt Disney World Resort, especially Magic Kingdom Park, you can often imagine that you're in the North Pole, except for the weather! Between the holiday decor, the festive spirit in the air, sweet treats, and Santa himself making frequent visits, it's just as magical as where Santa and Mrs. Claus spend their time prepping for the most wonderful time of the year. In fact, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is holiday magic at its finest and I can't wait to experience it again this year. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all of the holiday announcements for this year, which usually start in June!

At this time, no Polar Express ride has been announced for the resort and while I'm no Walt Disney Imagineer, this rumor is likely just that...a rumor! After all, the Walt Disney Company does not own the rights to this film or the book it's loosely based upon and a large-scale rollercoaster would likely have been announced by now because construction would need to have started already to open in 2024.

But don't worry, 2024 is going to be a great year for the Walt Disney World Resort. We've got the finishing touches to EPCOT's multi-year transformation coming soon. There are a few restaurants opening. Star Tours - The Adventure Continues will likely be adding new characters and destinations this year. A newly reimagined Little Mermaid show is coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Oh sorry. Did you hear that scream? That was me. The Little Mermaid is my favorite so I'm very excited for that one! Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom Park is getting revamped to pump some more excitement into this classic attraction. And, well, as excited as I am for the new Little Mermaid offering, I am most excited for Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom Park. It's high time The Princess and the Frog got its due in the parks and this attraction looks epic. It should be debuting in late 2024. To quote Tiana herself, we're almost there! Read all about the new experiences coming to the Disney Parks (and beyond) on the Disney Parks Blog!

So in summary, get ready for a rollercoaster of a year. And if you want some high-speed thrills, don't miss TRON / Lightcycle Run Presented by Enterprise at Magic Kingdom Park. Not only is this attraction open right now, but it blows the rails off any train I've ever been on!
