Hi, I have points in withholding can you please explain how I can use these. Thank you

Hi Lisa, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Disney Vacation Club member, I know that life happens and sometimes we make some last-minute changes to trips. Luckily, DVC provides flexibility in using our Vacation Points. So, let’s talk all about using your Vacation Points when they go into your Holding Account!

If you have points in your Holding Account, that means that you had a previous Resort reservation with your Vacation Points that was cancelled or modified less than 30 days before the scheduled check-in date. Luckily, Disney Vacation Club offers several options to use your Vacation Points:

    • DVC Resort Reservation. You can make a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation for stays during this current Use Year so long as the reservation is booked 60 days or less from the scheduled check-in date.
    • Disney Collection and Hotel Exchange. You can exchange these Vacation Points as part of the Disney Collection (Disney Cruise, Adventures by Disney) for stays 60 days prior to your check-in date. Note that for these types of exchanges, the Rule of Four also applies to all stays except those at Disneyland Resort hotels and for Tokyo Disney Resort hotels. As a refresher (because sometimes I forget what this means), the Rule of Four basically means that reservations within your current Use Year have to be booked prior to the last 4 months of your current Use Year.

As a reminder, Vacation Points in a Holding Account cannot be banked or borrowed. In addition, these Vacation Points must be used by the end of your Use Year otherwise they will expire.

Lisa, I hope this gives you some insight on how to use your Vacation Points and wish you all the pixie dust that you’re able to book something magical! If you have any additional questions about getting the most out of your DVC membership, please come back and visit us here at planDisney! My fellow panelists and I will be happy to assist.

    Your pal,

    Sean
