Hi Maureen, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! Our family also has a December
Use Year and I’ll be honest that it can sometimes get confusing to manage since the yearly allocation of Vacation Points is towards the end of the calendar year. But don’t worry, I’m here to get things straightened out for you so you can get that
Disney Vacation Club villa booked!
If you have 100
Vacation Points for your December 2026 Use Year, that means those Vacation Points can generally be used towards a stay starting December 1, 2026 through November 30, 2027. However, don’t confuse that with your booking window, which is independent of when your Vacation Points are allocated to their proper Use Year. You could have booked as early as January 1st of this year at your
Home Resort or May 1st of this year for all other DVC Resorts using your December 2026 points. It looks like you’re targeting an arrival of mid-January 2027. The good news is you can use your 2026 Vacation Points towards that stay and you can book that immediately (subject to availability).
If you were perhaps planning a stay prior to December 1, 2026, you could
borrow those points from your 2026 Use Year into your current allocation towards a booking. Alternatively, if you wanted to save those points towards a bigger villa or a longer stay in 2027, you could
bank those points towards the next year’s allocation. This type of flexibility in when you want to go and where you want to stay is without a doubt one of the best benefits of DVC, especially over traditional timeshare programs that require you to go to the same place one fixed week, year after year.
Maureen, I hope this gives you the information you were looking for and I hope you’re able to book the villa at the DVC Resort you desire! If you have any further questions about using your DVC membership, please do not hesitate to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
