Can I use points to book a room for a friend

    Hiya Carol!

Welcome Home, and thank you for stopping by planDisney. Oh boy! How wonderful that you are planning to share the magic of Disney Vacation Club with a friend.  My parents gifted my husband and me a Disney Vacation Club stay on our honeymoon once upon a time.  We quickly realized the value of flexible, affordable Disney vacations year after year and soon after, we joined the most magical neighborhood around when we became Members ourselves.  Since then, it has been many happily ever afters as we have made so many magical memories at Disney and beyond.

Carol, yes, Disney Vacation Club Members can use Vacation Points to book a room for family and friends.  It is quite easy to do.

First, log in to your Disney Vacation Club account, go to the "My DVC" tab and select "My Dashboard."  Scroll to where it says "Plan Your Next Vacation" and enter dates to search for your next magical stay.  Once you find the available Disney Vacation Club Resort of your dreams for your friend, you can begin to book the room.  Follow the steps to book the room, but when it gets to the Guest Information part, this is where you put in your friend's name and contact information for this stay (along with anyone staying in the room with them.)  Continue the steps until you complete the booking.

Once you have booked the room, you can send the confirmation to your friend and the reservation becomes theirs. They can link it to their My Disney Experience account.  If you have to make any changes to the room stay prior to your friend checking in, you - the Member - would have to call Member Services or modify the booking online.  However, once they arrive at the Resort and check in, the room will be in their name.

One other thing to note, Carol, is that your Vacation Points will cover the cost of the room. However, your friend will be asked to provide a credit card for any incidentals and room charges they may make during their stay. Additionally, any Member Benefits for which you - the Member - may be eligible do not extend to your friend if they stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort on your Vacation Points. Those are reserved for eligible Members.

If you have any trouble booking your friend's room, give Member Services a call. They are like Fairy Godparents - all knowing and able to make your wishes come true with a bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!

I hope this helps you, Carol!  If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, stop by again and I'll be so happy to help you.

    Magically Yours,
    Keri
